Feng Shui Blessings for a Very Happy Mother’s Day
May 9, 2015
Mother’s Day is celebrated wordwide in recognition of the unconditional love and support that women give to their children. Anna Jarvis began campaining for women to be acknowledged in 1905 and President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation in 1914 declaring a public holiday in the United States to take place in the second Sunday of May each year.
Sadly, this honoring of women has become yet another commercial enterprise, with the true heartfelt expression of love for the mother energy being reduced to a monetary value.
Feng Shui has for thousands of years acknowledged the feminine energy. In the practice of feng shui, the southwest corner of any home or room is Big Earth and represents romance, love and marriage. The trigram of KUN is assigned to the southwest and represents Mother Earth. The ultimate yin energy; the mother is holding human energy in balance and harmony with heavenly energy. She is the ultimate symbol of the divine feminine, giving birth, nurturing the family and radiating love and kindness.
There are a variety of symbols that relate to the mother energy. For example, the Chinese culture worships Lady Kuan Yin (the mother of compassion) and Christianity worships Mother Mary. In space feng shui we can activate the southwest corner to enhance our relationship with our mother.
Check out the southwest corner of your living room. What do you have here? Is there clutter? What images and symbols are in this corner? Is what you have placed here representing the relationship you would like with your mother? Enhance the mother energy of your home by placing images, colors, numbers and shapes that represent this energy in the southwest corner of your living room. Place a recent photo of you with your mother in a frame supported by two beautiful rose quartz hearts or a rose colored candle. You may like to write a positive affirmation around your relationship with your mother and place this alongside your activations.
Other activations for the southwest include a crystal globe, images of divine mothers, ceramics, a ceramic circle of friends, candles and crystals. The traditional Chinese double happiness symbol is a powerful activation for this corner. Even images of animals with their young can be displayed here. Avoid placing a single image of a man, woman or child alone here. This tells the Universe that you don’t want a relationship with your mother.
Do you remember a beautiful scent connected with your mother? The divine scents of rose, jasmine and lavender would be perfect essential oils to vaporize in your living room. The southwest is the general direction for loving and supportive relationships. Your personal energy number is a more dynamic system of activating for all of your relationships, both personal and business.
